What you’ll find

What visitors add
Outdoor bath & sauna
Full lineup confirmed by many reviews: large indoor bath, open-air bath, sauna, cold plunge, utase-yu (waterfall massage) and the signature awase-yu. At least five reviews mention the rotenburo and at least four the sauna. One reviewer found the cold bath painfully cold in winter; one found the utase-yu water pressure weak. There is also an outdoor cool-down (totonoi) space.

The signature awase-yu is four small tubs entered in rising temperature order; at least eight reviews describe it. Reviewer temperature reports for the final tub: 'up to 46 C' (one), 'about 47 C' (one), '45 C+' (one who lasted a minute and lists the four tubs roughly 38 / 40 / 42-43 / 45+ C); many reviewers could not enter the last tub at all. Tubs fit about 4 people each and queues form at busy times (three reviews).
stated by 8 visitors · Jul 2026 – Aug 2026Day-use visits
A full day-use complex - one of Kusatsu's 'three baths' - with restaurant (Yunohana, himokawa udon), cafe, tatami rest areas and free parking (three reviews mention parking, one explicitly free). No opening hours are stated in reviews; one visitor arriving 'quite close to closing' found it empty. Weekends and holidays are consistently crowded per four reviews, though two off-peak visitors found it calm.
stated by 7 visitors · Jul 2026 – Aug 2026The water
Strongly acidic Kusatsu water: one reviewer warns the strong acidity makes skin tingle 'like an electric bath' and cautions sensitive skin; another felt stinging after having shaved that morning. Two reviews mention a mild sulfur smell; one describes clear water with a slippery feel whose warmth lingers after bathing; one says skin comes out smooth.
stated by 5 visitors · Aug 2026Towels, soap & lockers
Lockable lockers and dryers are free (three reviews). Amenities are well stocked - one reviewer says women can come empty-handed since hair oil and makeup remover are provided. Towel and bath-towel rental costs extra, so bring your own (one review). Weekend crowds can mean queuing for washing stations and dryers (two reviews).
stated by 5 visitors · Aug 2026Price
Adult admission is 1200 yen (three reviews; one adds children 600 yen and a 10% JAF-app coupon discount). One reviewer paid 1000 yen while the open-air bath was under construction in Aug 2026 and felt it should have been half price. One reviewer finds 1200 yen a bit expensive for the cramped awase-yu tubs.
