The bath

What you’ll find

A roughly 100-year-old, wood-fired neighborhood sento in Isesaki with two small indoor tubs, resident cats, and a strongly divisive lived-in, dusty atmosphere that some visitors find charmingly retro and others find genuinely unhygienic.

What visitors add

Price
Adult admission is 450 yen in reviews from 2024-2026 (3 reviewers); five earlier reviewers (2020-2023) reported 400 yen, one of them itemizing 400/180/80 yen for adult/middle/child.

Outdoor bath & sauna
There are exactly two indoor tubs — one deep, one shallow (8 reviewers) — around 40°C / 'just right' per 5 reviewers; one reviewer states there is no sauna, electric bath or other modern equipment, and no reviewer mentions any outdoor bath.
stated by 8 visitors · Oct 2020 – Oct 2025
Towels, soap & lockers
No soap, shampoo or amenities are provided — bring everything (3 reviewers). Free key lockers exist (3 reviewers; one other says the changing room has only baskets), a hair dryer costs 20 yen per 3 minutes (1 reviewer), and retro wooden lockers are on the men's side only (1 reviewer).

The water
This is a circa-1925 wood-fired sento, not a hot spring: one reviewer states the fuel is firewood (two others mention the smoking chimney), and four describe medicated or additive baths — a blue bath-salt bath, an amber-colored bath, and a seasonal yakuyu that warms to the core.
stated by 7 visitors · Mar 2020 – Apr 2026
Staffing
A traditional staffed bandai (attendant's perch) sits right inside the door — at least five reviewers describe the elderly owner or family at the bandai, mostly warmly; one found the attendant absent with the men's changing room in open view, and one complains of poor attitude.

Towels, soap & lockers
Three reviewers report the showers/taps never warm up or take very long to do so — one scooped tub water to wash, and one warns the karan hot tap alone is scalding and must be mixed with cold by hand.
