The water

There are two connected tubs (a hotter and a normal/deeper one). The temperature is usually decidedly hot — one measured 42°C on the thermometer but felt hotter, one estimated 44-45°C, one states 45°C — yet it varies with the wood fire ('the heat is capricious'), and two reviewers found it lukewarm/mild on their visit; cooling with tap water is allowed.

Not an onsen: the water is well water heated over a wood fire (one reviewer was told it is pumped from a well; at least five others mention the wood firing), described as gentle/soft on the skin and keeping bathers warm long afterwards (one: still warm 1+ hour after leaving).
