CRITICAL FOR VISITORS: at least nine reviewers spanning Jul 2020 to Aug 2026 report that since COVID this bath is restricted to Kusatsu town residents only — tourists and non-residents cannot bathe. One reviewer (Jun 2024) saw a sign at the entrance stating outsiders may not enter; the most recent reviewer (Aug 2026) confirms the restriction is still in force.

Five reviewers state the water comes from the Yubatake source; one of them gives the full classification as acidic, sulfur-bearing aluminium sulfate-chloride spring, colorless and transparent. One reviewer calls it mild ('kuse ga sukunai') for Kusatsu water.
